EAGLE TO RELEASE ALL-NEW ELTON JOHN DOCUMENTARY ON SEPTEMBER 18, SOMEONE LIKE ME

“The greatest thing about rock’n’roll is that someone like me can be a star”—Elton John

New York, NY— (August 14, 2007) On September 18, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Someone Like Me, an all-new 141-minute documentary (retail:  $9.98) that goes behind the glitter to delve into the person who made the above self-deprecating comment. Sir Elton John, throughout his career, has been a mountain of mystery. From the pudgy self-conscious Reginald Dwight of his schoolboy years to Captain Fantastic, John has hit the heights and experienced the lows like no other entertainer in show biz history. With over 200 million albums sold internationally, a catalog of some of the most beloved songs in pop music history, his flair for melody has been almost equaled by his flair for personal drama. Knighted by the Queen of England, yet excoriated and demonized by the censorious self-appointed keepers of morality in music (thus keeping to a long time-honored rock’n’roll tradition that started with Elvis Presley), John’s excesses have kept the publicity gin mills stoked with juicy exploits. Depression, bulimia, drug and alcohol addiction and explosive temper tantrums are just the jumping-off point for a series of self-destructive chapters that would’ve felled most mortal men.

Yet this is the same man who, at 14, innocently crooned country songs for a living. This is the same man who has had a powerful impact on U.S. research into Aids Awareness…who became close with Diana, Princess Of Wales, and who sang at her funeral. Drama queen? Political activist? This is a Pop Star for the ages, the man who coaxed close friend John Lennon out of retirement to perform with him at Madison Square Garden on a bet if their “Whatever Gets You Through The Night” duet reached #1.

Stocked with interviews of friends and foes alike, Someone Like Me is a compelling, informative and entertaining portrait of a singularly unique and complex musical genius.

Eagle Rock Entertainment develops, acquires and produces music programming for a wide range of notable and high profile artists, which the company distributes on a worldwide basis. Eagle Rock Entertainment, Eagle Vision and Eagle Eye Media are wholly owned divisions of Eagle Rock Group, LTD.
