SOAKING GOOD TIME—Promising to leave a wake of mayhem and musical carnage across 24 cities before closing on the 30^th of this month, Ozzfest 2007 is free this year, and features some of the heaviest bands on the planet. The ritualistic summer bloodletting and hardcore metal orgy may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it has always worked for ringmaster Ozzy Osbourne, who continues to dominate the main stage at every stop. A natural-born poster boy for equipment abuse onstage, Osbourne has a habit of punishing his Shure UHF-R/Beta 58A wireless mic with repeated dousings of water and numerous other acts of unspeakable torture. It—and Ozzy—still work fine after each show, so word is out that we can expect to see the pair back in ’08 teamed up with the rest of the members of the original Black Sabbath.
