Are unexperienced blog writers really that bad?

As we posted an ad at Craigslist, please do not respond with what is displayed below. You only make yourself look like an indiot. Our ad can be displayed here.

Here’s my pitch - please, for the love of god, don’t try to present your online rag as the web version of an established print magazine and then, in the same breath, offer NO PAY for any submissions.

What the hell is the matter with you? Did someone tell you that craigslist was the place to get writers for free? Here’s a tip - free writers are not very good. It would be like trying to get a fee designer and then acting surprised when your logo turned out to be a traced replica of a box factory insignia.

People like me spent thousands of dollars to go to school and polish our craft. Yes yes, I have heard the whole excuse about how you are “just trying to give experience to those who have none”. Great. But why can’t this experience come with a paycheque? Oh right, because you are cheap…..

Good luck. Whenever I want to own an online magazine for free I’ll know who to call. Sincerely,

Name withheld for ‘professional reasons’

According to Google, you can be assured this idiot is a true noboby with only 3 hits to his name. He also seems to want to write for Now magazine who only hire low life writers that want to be paid thousands of dollars and are angry at the world. They also must be the most jaded set of journalists on the planet esp. from their music journalists who only talk about the same bands year after year.

Anyhow, let’s dissect this ‘purist’ and ‘unprofessional’ hack of a writer who has spent thousands of dollars shall we?

Here’s my pitch - please, for the love of god, don’t try to present your online rag as the web version of an established print magazine and then, in the same breath, offer NO PAY for any submissions.

For an idiot with no knowledge, Caustic Truths was a 15 year old print ‘rag’ that was more than established. Along with Lollipop, it was the only indie zines that went onto North American mainstream newsstands many years ago. As all other recent indie press zines/magazines, many have folded to go online or have given up. We are still here online with a small network of sites that readers seem to enjoy through our daily news we have given since 1998. Other publishers just give up. Many example mags that have given up include Punk Planet, Rockpile, and many more. As for our hack writer, I wonder what he contributed to the publishing scene? Nothing but just a big fat mouth. As for PAY, yeah we pay when we CAN afford to. Is it millions? NO! Why? ‘cause we don’t charge thousands of dollars that big weeklies like NOW do.

I beg to differ on getting wrtiers for free. Due to many new outlets who have gone bankrupt, there is not a lot of choice for newer writers to get established. Caustic Truths will definitely take a chance with these type of writers as they are as good or even better than other established writers. If things roll, I hope to pay these writers more than they deserve if they can help establish an expanded online audience. It is no different when CT! started out in ‘92. Writers are more than deserving to get paid, but we also deserve a solid revenue base in order to make this happen. Our fool with the big mouth seems not to know about this. The other funny thing is that Craigslist does have a section called writers gig for low or no pay. At least we advertise it in the right section. Also, I find it absurd that this guy would not only insult myself, but also insult other online/print publishers who advertise on Craigslist in the same sections throughout the world!! He also insults those poor, newer writers by saying they are no good. What an elitist!!!

Sure you spent thousands of dollars for your greedy minded career so you can get paid. Nothing wrong with that but I personally have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on this Caustic Truths venture, 15 years of my life, as well as a marriage has gone to waste. Also, I am out of pocket in thousands with terrible advertisers who don’t want to pay their own ad bills. When you run a PRINT magazine costing over $10K each month, you get to point where many publishers literally hit the financial and cannot continue. Oh did this idiot not know this? Any right minded independent publisher will agree me with on this totally. Oh yeah, I wonder why Independent Press Association is longer around. No different than the indie publishers are no longer around. So again you idiot, do yourself and shut the HELL up before you speak what you do not know!! Indie publishers like myself are not CHEAP, we are no longer able to afford to pay for writers. As for me, I believe in the indie voice and want to continue with it online. I am bringing together an audience who are excited about what they read and freely comment on them. I hope forward thinking writers see this, come aboard, and contribute thoughts on what is featured. This is where the future is for people to come together and offer opinions instead of wasting away in traditional media being dumb downed by some major TV/radio broadcaster. Once I see this, all established writers shall be paid well for their efforts. As for you, don’t bother approaching because you ain’t welcome here.

P.S. I am not a professional writer and never will be.
