The Benefits of Blu-Ray in Playstation 3 Games

The Benefits of Blu-Ray in Playstation 3 Games
By Ivan A Cuxeva
If you have followed the recent development in the entertainment industry, especially video and games, you then know that times are changing yet once again. There was a time when the latest technology in video was called Beta (Betamax) which was replaced by VHS which in term was upgraded to digital video in the form of DVD. This last format is not only used as a standard by the video industry but by the computer and gaming industry as well.
The main advantage of DVD over VHS and tapes is that the data can be stored for years without suffering any distortion, the storage capacity is greater and the video quality improved tremendously. When it comes to data storage, DVD discs come in 4.7GB versions for a single layer disc and 9GB for dual layers which increases the amount of data that can be recorded on a single disc.
Current Playstation 3 games use the DVD technology in order to offer better graphics in extremely complex games, however a new format has emerged which is changing the way digital (HD) video and games are recorded. The two formats which are considered the upgrade of DVD discs are HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Companies which manufacture video players and data readers have recently adopted the Blu-Ray format as the new standard.
Blu-Ray offers many benefits over DVD, for instance a dual layer DVD can hold up to 9GB of data, Blu-Ray on the other hand can hold 25GB per layer! that means that a single layer Blu-ray disk can hold almost 3 times more information than the largest DVD disc (9GB dual layer) and the dual layer Blu-Ray disc can hold up to 50GB of information! such numbers are truly impressive for a single disc; but that’s not all, this new format is truly "future proof" since it has support for multiple layers which can enable a single disk to hold between 100-200GB
So what do these facts and numbers mean to the PS3 gaming community? Simple, if you liked the video resolution in PS3 games which are currently designed and distributed on DVD, then just imagine playing the same game in high definition with improved digital sound and bigger worlds. 50GB discs can improve a game in every aspect as much as 5.5 times and a 200GB disc can hold information for an incredibly huge game which could be as much as 22 times better than the current DVD based PS3 version.
As you see, this type of technology is literally changing the way games are made and movies recorded. Blu-ray technology allows movie makers to include every single detail of their production and still have plenty of space to include extra footage. Game designers and programmers will also enjoy the benefits of having nearly unlimited space with discs which are extremely flexible in terms of storage capacity (25-50-100-200GB) Playstation 3 games and the technology associated with it is relatively new so you can expect future versions to use the Blu-Ray technology to its full capacity in order to deliver HD graphics and take your favorite games to a whole new level.

Burn Wii Games - Copy & Make Wii Backups The Easy Way

Burn Wii Games - Copy & Make Wii Backups The Easy Way
By Herb Peterson
To Burn Wii games or not to ? That’s the question. The Wii is increasing in popularity, and as such there is a huge demand for games. Even worse, games are expensive, so what happens if you scratch the disc or something? Read on to find out how to burn Wii games that you can use as a backup.
Okay now before you get into this, it’s update yourself on the copyright laws in your area. In most places, it’s legal to burn Wii games, as long as you own the original, and that the copies are for your personal use only, IE as backups. This is the most common law, but please check it out in your area all the same - there are no Wiis in jail, so you don’t really want to end up there right?
First of all, it’s not possible to do any copying or anything with the Wii itself, so you’ll need to use your computer, and you will need a specific kind of DVD Drive in order to get it working. You need one of the LG-816 series, most notably 8161b, 8162b or 8163b. There is plenty of information about these on Google, so perform a quick search if you need to, and if you are having trouble finding the drives you need to burn Wii games, check Ebay, you can usually get them there.
You need to make an image of the disc before you can burn Wii games, so in addition to the DVD drive, you will need to install some software called .net Framework 2.0, and Raw Dump 2.0
The first thing you need to do to burn Wii games is to put the game you want to burn inside your LG dvd drive. Once it’s in, open the Raw Dump file (should have been created after installation) and double click on the rawdump.exe file to get the rawdump program fired up.
Once rawdump opens, you will get a dialog box. Click the button that says Start Dump, and you will soon be ready to burn Wii games. The next part of the process is largely about patience. Due to the size of the files on a DVD, you will need to wait quite a while for the dump to finish. Waiting time will vary due to computer spec and hardware etc, but it can be anywhere between 1 hour and about 5 hours, if you have a slow computer.
Once it’s finished, you should see a new file in the rawdump folder, an ISO file, with the same name as whatever game you copied. An ISO file is simply a perfect image of what was previously on a disc. You’ll get familiar with these files if you intend to burn Wii games as a habit.
The last two parts of the process are probably the simplest thing you need to do when you burn Wii games. First of all, once the dump finishes, right click on the new file and choose Properties. What you are looking for here is the size of the file. ALL Wii game ISOs are 4.7 Gb in size, which is the same size as a blank DVD, so you can see that the image dump has picked up everything. Anything different from this and you will need to begin again, as it’s not possible to burn Wii games if the ISOs are the wrong size!
Once you have the right size, all you need to do to perform the actual burning of the Wii games is to get your preferred burning software, start a new project, and instruct it to burn the ISO image onto a brand new blank DVD. This part can be a little finicky, and if you use low quality discs you’ll find you have problems with unreadable games etc.
In order to play the Wii games that you burned, you will either need to get your Wii fitted with a modchip, or use one of several SD card modifications. Tutorials for both of these can easily be found on the net.
As you’ve seen, if you’ve an urge to burn Wii games, it can be done, but be aware of your own local laws and regulations. Check out the links below to see where you can download free games.

Guitar Hero 3 Review - Guitar Hero 3 Xbox 360
By Chris Dreyer
Guitar Hero 3 xbox 360 is one of the best games I have ever played. The song selection surpasses the other two Guitar Heros. It has a song title for nearly every genre. It is neat how you can choose the level of experience. You can choose what difficulty level you want to play whether your a beginner (easy), medium, hard (hardcore) or an expert.
I also like it because you not only can play by yourself but you can face off in battle mode with a friend. "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce is one of the most challenging songs to play, your fingers will go crazy!! Like the other Guitar Hero games, Guitar Hero 3 xbox 360 also helps improve hand-eye coordination so you can perfect a motor skill while kicking it on a guitar.
In addition to the awesome battle mode it also has many other great new features. It has animated scenes on the Career Mode. It has new in game characters like: Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Bret Michaels (Poison), and Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine). Also, two players using the same console can participate in Co-op Career Mode, which is arranged similarly to the single player Career mode, with one player on lead guitar and the other on bass.
It is an awesome game to play. The song selection is really diverse and challenging. You can have a lot of fun rockin’ out by yourself or with friends. I give Guitar Hero 3 xbox 360 a 10/10 rating for being able to rock your face off!!

Buy New DVD Releases, Cheap DVDs & Discount DVDs

Buy New DVD Releases, Cheap DVDs & Discount DVDs
By Gerald Revels
LOWERING PRICES:.
The movie industry tries to fight the surge in cheap dvds and discount dvd sales with lower prices.
Entertainment companies think otherwise. With the increasing demand for cheap DVDs and discount DVDs this has prevented Hollywood studios and major record labels from tapping the full growth potential of those tantalizing markets. Now, some media companies are trying to reverse the tide by cutting prices on new DVDs and CDs low enough to challenge the discount DVD re tailors at their own game.
THE GAME PLAN:
The idea is to give consumers in those markets New DVD Releases at cheap prices. Warner Bros. hopes to get a foothold in the Chinese market by setting the price of its New DVD movie releases there between $2 and $4. NBC Universal would like to tap into Warner’s Chinese distribution system and is planning a similar program in Russia. Meanwhile, the four global music companies have just launched a similar strategy in Mexico, in conjunction with distributors, aiming to replace the discounted DVDs with new lines of cut-rate, New DVD Releases and CDs.
The companies are betting that just as Apple Computer helped the U.S. music industry reclaim turf lost to Internet piracy by pricing songs for the iPod at 99 cents apiece, the movie studios and record labels can woo back consumers abroad by slashing the price of DVDs and CDs. Their discs are of superior quality, they say, eliminating the risk of buying substandard goods and justifying the premium they want consumers to pay.
THE SUMMARY:
New DVD Releases in store such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target will cost you around 19.99, HD DVD will be about 24.99 and Blue Ray is in the neighborhood of 29.99. With that being said the savings and the choice is clear, discounted DVDs are popular because of their price.
