Nikki Sixx responds over councillor statements said about touring Motley Crue coming to his town
The Observer
Motley Crue has a message for Sarnia councillor Dave Boushy and his objection to their upcoming performance at Sarnia Bayfest.
Speaking via conference call Wednesday, rock’s bad boys jumped at the opportunity to comment on Boushy’s claim their off-stage antics are pornographic.
“He’s right,” said base player Nikki Sixx.
“People like him are always out to attack rock and roll, you know. God bless them, man.
They keep our name in the press and re-ignite our passion to hold up our middle finger to all those people who really don’t understand.
“If that’s how these people have to get a little press, then that’s their problem,” said Sixx, who then used a common expletive to describe the councillor.
Last month, the 78-year-old Boushy sparked a furor after he suggested that the band’s sexual exploits and shocking behavior could damage Sarnia’s image.
He called for a motion that the city have a say in which acts perform at the annual summer festival.
Boushy could not be reached for comment about the band’s remarks.
Wednesday’s exclusive print media teleconference — which included more 30 newspapers and magazines from across North America — got animated when The Observer asked Sixx and lead guitarist Mick Mars about Boushy’s comments.
Sixx said that rock and roll bands have become, “the ugly stepchild of music.” But they’re not giving in to the stereotype.
“It’s all about guitars, sexy lead singers and snotty rock and roll lyrics,” he said. “And we’re gonna keep putting it out to tens of thousands of people.”
Sarnia’s July 10 show is a unique stop on the band’s “Cruefest” tour, which kicks off July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The band will fly in solo, without the supporting Cruefest acts like Buckcherry and Papa Roach, who will join them on the North American tour.
But they’re going to put on a dynamite show, Mars promised.
“It’ll just be a kick-you-in-the-head kind of show. And next time, we’ll bring the whole tour through Sarnia.”
The band, which includes drummer Tommy Lee and lead singer Vince Neil, are releasing their new album, “Saints of Los Angeles,” on June 17.
Mars said the show will include four or five tracks from the new album, along with classic favourites.
“The first thing you want to do is go out and play all the new music, but the audience doesn’t know it yet,” he said. “They want to hear the old stuff — the ‘Live Wire’ and the “Home sweet Home.’”
The band starts rehearsals tomorrow.

Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver seems to want something from Axl Rose during of Axl Rose interview
VELVET REVOLVER’s
drummer MATT SORUM has a newfound appreciation for former GUNS N’ ROSES bandmate AXL ROSE
, after his troubled experiences with axed frontman SCOTT WEILAND.
Guns N’ Roses stars Sorum, Slash and Duff MCKagan parted ways from frontman Rose to form Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland in 2003 - after years of tension with the November Rain singer.
But the rock supergroup axed Weiland in April (08) after a series of infighting, insisting he wasn’t "100 per cent committed" to the band.
And Sorum had such a hard time on the road with Weiland before he was fired, he began to think fondly of his time with Rose.
He says, "I actually have a newfound liking and love for Axl Rose. I’ve said a couple of bad things about Axl, and I think they’ve come back to bite me in the ass.
"The one thing I know about Axl Rose, as much as a d**k as he was at times, the stadium was usually sold out! A little difference between those two guys. I’m talking 50,000 not 5,000.

Sammy Hagar says he will not join Van Halen until Eddie become sober during interview
ondon, May 26 (IANS) Former lead singer of rock band Van Halen Sammy Hagar does not want to return to the band until frontman Eddie Van Halen cleans up and stays sober. The group had to delay their comeback when Van Halen had to check himself into a rehab for alcohol problems, contactmusic.com reports.
While Van Halen’s son Wolfgang has joined the group on bass, the singer seems to be on the road to recovery. But Hagar is not completely convinced.
He said: “That’s just not something I’m really interested in doing again right now. Eddie would have to be able to bring himself back to ground zero; by that, I mean he’d have to be completely clean.”
He added: “After the last Van Hagar (sic) tour, Eddie became my enemy. He wasn’t the same guy he was when we started the Van Hagar era of the band. He made what should have been a great experience just down right miserable. When I say that, I’m talking about the Eddie Van Halen that is struggling with his personal demons.
“Last time I saw Eddie, he was in really bad shape. I did see a recent photo and he looks healthier than he has in a long time. That, to me, is a great thing, Eddie has all the support on the planet from me if he is finally getting his s**t together.”
