How To Download Free Games To Your PSP
By Rayman Abiva
I had my hands on this new PSP game console which I bought last month and I definitely say it really is a nice gadget to kill some time. Its amazing graphics and sounds would really envy someone who sees you playing it. Since this gadget has it all from music, video, skype, internet, and games you would be addicted to it. Unfortunately not everyone could afford to have it since this is expensive and uses a special disc called UMD to play games or watch movies. However there is an alternative way to play games without having to buy those disc and that is to download homebrew games.
Homebrew games are games that are custom design by programmers to work on PSP without using UMD’s. By these there is a great amount of money you can save because you wouldn’t have to buy any disc at all. You will have to download the games from your PSP game source and paste it to your psp game folder. As simple as that you can start playing almost for free. Imagine if your going to buy UMD games for $20 or more for each disc these would cost you a lot of money.
However in order that homebrew games to work on your psp, you must have a custom firmware that would enable you to run homebrew games. Some firmware that works on homebrew games are Firmware 1.5 and 3.90. See if your PSP has these custom firmware installed or else you will either downgrade or upgrade it but make sure you let the experts do it to avoid bricking your psp. You can check your psp firmware under system settings in your PSP. If your PSP has it then you can follow the below procedure on how and where to download psp games. This is just a simple steps so this wouldn’t be hard for you.
Step 1: Download your favorite homebrew games from anywhere in the internet. You can visit the blog link below for some free games to download. Use those games to simply try out these steps.
Step 2: After you downloaded the game check if it is now in ISO or CSO format. If not, you may have to extract the downloaded file using winrar or winzip program. After extracting just copy and paste the ISO/CSO file in your PSP game folder. My game usually resides to my ISO folder. Make sure you have enough space for it. Check your memory stick if you still have enough remaining space for games.
Step 3: When you have finish copying those game files to your folder, just simply exit USB mode from your PSP and try to run your newly copied game. If you encountered corrupted file, you may have not the firmware that supports homebrew or you may have downloaded a corrupted game file so try downloading it again.
Incase you wish to downgrade your psp firmware to version 1.5, there’s a link in the blog site that will guide you through a step by step procedure with videos on how to downgrade your firmware but always remember that there’s always risk that might brick your psp, so study the procedure carefully. Downgrading your PSP to 1.5 requires lumines, a puzzle game that is use to hack your PSP. It cost around $20 for the game and you can acquire it at amazon. Many have success on it so I would assume that you would also.
