Details on Joe Satriani Signature guitar from Ibanez

August 27, 2008

IBANEZ RECREATES SATRIANI’S FAMOUS “BLACK DOG” GUITAR
Limited Edition Tribute Features Exacting Hand-Renderings of Satch Artwork

(Bensalem, PA) The rumors were true. After years of calls from the legions of Satriani faithful, Ibanez was going to offer a collector’s edition of virtuoso rock guitarist Joe Satriani’s storied “Black Dog” electric guitar. And at the very last minute, the guitar was added to the Ibanez Booth display at the Summer 2008 NAMM musical instrument convention in Nashville.

The Ibanez JS “Black Dog” Tribute is a faithful recreation of Joe Satriani’s legendary late ‘80s/early ‘90s axe. Like Joe’s actual Black Dog, the recreation features the original pot locations and output jack style—different than the current Satriani signature model—as well as DiMarzio® PAF Pro® and Fred® pickups and the original Ibanez Edge tremolo system. In addition the JS neck and finish on the Tribute are treated by Ibanez’s most experienced luthiers.

But it’s the Black Dog finish that especially stands out: laboriously recreated by hand, one at a time, by just one highly skilled artist, are the drawings that Joe would apply to the original Black Dog body as the spirit moved him. Ibanez took photographs of the original Black Dog and used the shots to create a sort of “graphic map” that the Japanese artist uses to render with amazing exactitude Satriani’s original drawings.

The list price of the JSBDG is $7999.99, which includes many exclusive and special 20tth Anniversary items including an autographed copy of the Surfing with the Alien Legacy CD, a deluxe hardshell case, and exclusive Planet Waves Joe Satriani strap and Satriani Planet Waves signature picks by the respected D’Addario Co.

The collector’s item guitar is reported to be limited to 100pcs worldwide with 60 of those destined for the United States.

REINVENTING DEAN
Zelinsky Launches DBZ Guitars

Chicago, IL and Houston, TX—August 26, 2008—Today world-renowned guitar maker Dean Zelinsky unveils his new company DBZ Guitars LLC, and Web site www.DBZGuitars.com. Said CEO Zelinsky, “DBZ Guitars will have my personal control over design, direction and quality.” The Web site, currently revealing only a glimpse of the new line, also includes the “DBZ Guitar Forum” where Zelinsky will be interacting once again with his fans online.
Zelinsky, who founded Dean Guitars in 1976 at the age of 18, is recognized industrywide for ushering in a new era in guitar design. That evolution continues with the new line of DBZ Guitars, premiering in January ’09, showcasing Zelinsky’s ability to “take guitar design to the next level.”  Zelinsky will be doing for guitars what custom bike builders have done for the motorcycle industry. Zelinsky stated rare exotic woods, laser technology and proprietary graphics applications will be essential to DBZ Guitars’ new look.
Equally newsworthy, Dean Zelinsky has partnered with Diamond Amplification owner Jeff Diamant, (who is now also President and COO of DBZ Guitars), and Diamant’s Texas partner, Terry Martin. Explained Zelinsky, “Jeff and I share a vision for DBZ, and see eye-to-eye on how this industry should be serviced. I have teamed up with Jeff because his proven business savvy is critical to this challenging new venture…guitar brands are not built every day. His Diamond Amps are second to none and add cache to the DBZ Guitar brand.”
“Dealers and distributors worldwide are already calling and vying for exclusive rights to DBZ/Diamond” added Diamant. “Simply, together we can do more than we can apart.”  Diamant continued, “Diamond will not be changing its current vision or plan.  We have a vision for DBZ and a vision for Diamond.”
“We are bringing a radical approach to every aspect of DBZ Guitars; guitar design, marketing, advertising and distribution, while retaining traditional and elegant styling and feel,” said Zelinsky. “The technology available today is being way under-utilized. This industry is stuck in the Dark Ages — it needs another shot in the arm.”
DBZ Guitars will be offering distributor exclusives worldwide on U.S.A.-made custom and high-end guitars, and a full range of lower price point guitars (electrics, acoustics and basses) to fit every level of talent and budget. Zelinsky and Diamant are focusing on quality, from top to bottom, to not only meet but exceed the expectations of Dean’s more than 30-year fan following and the Diamond Amps fans.

Dean Zelinksky leaves Dean Guitars to build better product with new company

LEGENDARY GUITAR BUILDER DEAN

ZELINSKY EXITS DEAN GUITARS

CHICAGO, IL–July 22, 2008 - Dean Zelinsky, founder of Dean Guitars,

announced today that he has parted ways with the company that he founded in

1976, which still bears his name.

Having sold Dean Guitars in 1991, Zelinsky played an integral part in

Guitars back in the limelight after becoming re-affiliated with the company

Zelinsky, discussing his not yet announced new venture, stated today,

"I wanted to get back to what put Dean on the map originally — building

high-quality instruments that shape both the image and tone of guitar

players, from the beginner to world-class professionals." Regarding Dean

Guitars, Zelinsky says, "I can no longer attach my name to the reputation,

quality and direction of Dean Guitars or its current objectives."

Zelinsky stated the announcement with details of his new venture will

be released on Tuesday, August 26, 2008.
