EAGLES OF DEATH METAL LANDS
AT DANGERBIRD MANAGEMENT
LOS ANGELES, October 13, 2008 - Palm Desert heroes Eagles of Death Metal have officially joined the Dangerbird Management roster, effective immediately. Armed with their swaggering new album, Heart On, due October 28 on Downtown Recordings, EODM, aka Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, are greasing up for the much-anticipated launch of their third full-length.
Spawning from The Desert Sessions’ Volumes 3 & 4, Eagles of Death Metal eventually evolved into a full-fledged band, leading into two well-received full-length LPs, Peace, Love and Death Metal (2004), Death By Sexy (2006), and acclaimed tours alongside The Strokes as well as The Distillers. Their riff-filled songs have appeared in films, trailers, tv shows and commercials, while their rollicking live show has become highly revered.
Dangerbird Management is the sister company to Dangerbird Records (Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery) and Dangerbird Publishing. The management division currently represents artists including The Dears and Darker My Love, as well as producers Tony Hoffer, Ken Andrews and Dave Cooley.

ANNOUNCING NEW “CHOKE” MUSIC VIDEO CLIP FEATURING “THE RULES” FROM BEN KWELLER
DIGITAL-ONLY “CHOKE” SOUNDTRACK NOW AVAILABLE ON ATO RECORDS
“CHOKE” HITS THEATERS NATIONWIDE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
The creators of “CHOKE” are proud to announce the new music video clip that features Ben Kweller’s “The Rules,” his contribution to the film’s soundtrack. As a collection of snapshots spotlighting a few of the film’s notable scenes, “The Rules” compliments the film’s unbelievably quirky personality through Kweller’s hard-edged, guitar-heavy offering.
The album, a digital-only release on ATO Records, contains seven songs from the film and eight others that are significant to actor, director and screen writer Clark Gregg’s vision while he was making it. Highlights include previously recorded songs by the likes of Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, The Fiery Furnaces, and The Twilights Singers. Most notable additions are the previously unreleased or rare tracks that appear on the record, among them “Orgasm Addict” by The Buzzcocks as sung by the band’s original singer Howard Devoto, a great version of The Doors’ “Crystal Ship” by the incomparable Nicole Atkins and The Sea, and the original version by The Natural History of Spoon’s current hit single, “Don’t You Ever.”
Fox Searchlight Pictures and ATO Pictures present “Choke,” a Contrafilm/ATO Pictures Production, based on the novel by maverick author Chuck Palahniuk (”Fight Club”). Actor-turned-director Gregg shows he is as adept behind the camera as he is in front of it with this wickedly comedic tale of Victor Mancini, con artist, sex addict, Colonial village re-enactor, angst-filled son, serial restaurant choker — and unsuspecting romantic antihero for our unsettling times.
The film will be in theatres on September 26 and features an ensemble cast including Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Huston, Kelly Macdonald, Brad William Henke and Jonah Bobo. Nathan Larson composed the score.

Did Stone Temple Pilots reunite for potential opening slot for Led Zeppelin reunion tour?

Did Stone Temple Pilots reunite for potential opening slot for Led Zeppelin reunion tour?
On a search of Ticketmaster.com I come across a listing for Stone Temple Pilots tickets. I figured they must be still plugging away after they kicked Scott Weiland out due to his repeated drug use and subsequent trips to jail and/or rehab. Curiousity got the best of me and I clicked and I saw what appeared to be a recent picture of the band with Weiland. A few clicks more and I discover they have reunited for a summer tour with their ultimate goal to land an opening position on a possible Led Zeppelin?reunion and tour.
First, I find it amazing that STP has any fans at all. In their heyday they had a few songs that I played in my cover band, but I really never knew anybody who could claim to being a fan or seeing them in concert. They were like Michael Jackson. Everybody knew and liked a few songs but would never admit to being a fan.
Second, they have never been known to be the most creative band on the planet so why Scott Weiland would leave a band like Velvet Revolver, with legendary guitar player Slash, is just mind boggling. This guy should have been dead from drugs over 10 years ago. He’s probably got the most charmed life of any drug addict rock star I have ever seen and yet he never seems to appreciate what he has.
My prediction - Velvet Revolver will come back with a better singer with a great 3rd CD, and with 3 members from the Guns ‘n’ Roses line-up there is no reason they can’t do so. STP will play half the shows of their North American tour when news reports will fly that Weiland has once again broken his parol orders and been caught with drugs on him. The DeLeo brothers weren’t able to keep this freak clean 10 years ago, I don’t know why they think they can now.
