How does this Iron Maiden tour get great reviews and attract three generations of fans?
How does this Iron Maiden tour get great reviews and attract three generations of fans?
This MTV review just makes my point:
You see, Maiden fans are intense. I almost felt guilty being there last night, as I am more of a casual fan who didn’t even own an Iron Maiden CD till last year (I did grow up hearing them everywhere, though, from the locker room at school to my pal’s fecal brown Camero). The merch lines stretched out the door of the arena, with fan after fan placing down hundreds of dollars on everything from T-shirts and soccer jerseys to coffee mugs and posters. Drunk chants of “Maiden! Maiden!” rang thru the packed halls of the arena as fans waited in line for $9 beers.
I was shocked to see how many young kids (on a school night, even) were there. How did these kids get into Maiden? Was this due to “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock”? It’s not like you find them on the local rock radio station or any music video outlet not called VH1 Classics. I also couldn’t take my eyes off of the people in front of us. Looking like 1990s MTV star Beavis, a man who I will just assume is the “bad uncle” had brought three junior high boys to the show. Throughout the night, as the young kids headbanged and threw up devil horns I couldn’t help but think back to my first arena shows. If only I had an uncle as cool as these kids had. Someone who would blow up condoms and turn them into balloons for the crowd to pass around, pass out lighters to me and my friends. I know my uncle would have never set his jeans on fire to impress us, nor would he have set my jeans on fire when I was not looking. Then again, my uncle looks nothing like Beavis and stopped going to rock shows after almost getting killed at Altamont. He did once give me a sip of beer on Christmas when I was like 9.

Exodus causes tour havoc with security during show over stage diving
Exodus causes tour havoc with security during show over stage diving
This was pure mayhem as posted by LAST.FM poster Fosster3567
The last band of the night was well worth the wait. EXODUS caused a huge stir in the Pearl Room. All was fine until about three songs into their set when a fan jumped up on stage and stage-dived. This was fine with the band, they even headbanged next to him. But security felt otherwise and kicked the kid out. EXODUS stopped playing ‘Children of a Worthless God’ immediately. They shouted at security to let the kid back in and even told the security guard who kicked the kid out to get the fuck out. When they didn’t, EXODUS’ singer [Rob Dukes] shouted, ‘Hey, I’m stage-diving. Kick me the fuck out, big boy.’ He jumped into the crowd. When he got back on stage, he commanded the audience all stage-dive. This is when the place turned into total chaos. Audience members were running on stage by the dozen and we were all enjoying the fuck out of ourselves. Then, Pearl Room’s management shut off their mics and amps. The singer was arguing with the manager for a few minutes. Luckily, EXODUS was allowed to continue their set, although no one else could stage dive. They were awesome live and played all the fan favorites."
Who should touring Marilyn Manson boink next after recent break up?
Who should touring Marilyn Manson boink next after recent break up?
This is funny. Who should he boink next? It ranges from Lindsay Lohan, Courtney Love, to Amy Whitehouse. Explanations are included:
Are there true sound problem of this new Van Halen tour?
Are there true sound problem of this new Van Halen tour?
A bunch of fans posted asomething but complained about the quality of the sound:
To anyone seeing Van Halen tonight at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, I’d like to hear what you think of the show (I went last Tuesday), especially the sound quality. Did the mix have balance and clarity? Did the music mesh and, at the same time, were you able to pick out the voices and instruments?
A lot of spectators last Tuesday night enjoyed seeing David Lee Roth back with his old mates, Eddie and Alex Van Halen, plus Eddie’s teen-aged son, Wolfgang. But some were unhappy with the sound, which they described as the fly in the punchbowl at this much-anticipated rock reunion. Here’s a sampling of reader replies to a review of the show:

Why would Tiger Woods want to hire a hard rocking band like Van Halen for his tour event?
Why would Tiger Woods want to hire a hard rocking band like Van Halen for his tour event?
Saturday evening’s highlights will include top-notch epicurean fare as well as an exclusive live and silent auction featuring unique items. Following the dinner and auctions, the celebration will move to the Mandalay Bay Events Center stage where Woods will introduce Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen and front man David Lee Roth for a rocking VAN HALEN concert.
This is according to Blabbermouth.
Would you have chosen Machine Head to open for your Metallica tour?
Would you have chosen Machine Head to open for your Metallica tour?
The opening band was chosen.
"This time in English… we’re psyched that our friends in MACHINE HEAD have said ‘yes’ to more fun and games following the good times that were had by all at Wembley last summer. They will play with us in Chorzow, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic for the two headlining shows on the first part of our summer European vacation. The remaining dates in May and June are festivals with tons of other cool bands. As usual, there’s more to come…"
I wonder if the lads over at Bullet for my Valentine will be crying in their beers tonite. Those poor emo boys. At least they have new material to write about in their next album.
Why bands like Guns N Roses, Soundgarden, and Faith No More should reunite for 2008 tours?
With mediocre reunions, this guy feels that bands like Soundgarden, Faith No More, and Guns N Roses should reunite. Here is why as he posted:
Here we are, two months into 2008. I still don’t have a flying car or even a Hover-board like in Back to the Future 2, but some of my favorite bands ever are getting back together in the search for more money for the love of their fans!
2007 saw Rage Against the Machine get over their egos and reunite after the end of Audioslave. Jerry Cantrell put Alice in Chains back together with new lead singer William Duvall (Boooo! Sorry, I’m a Layne Staley purist!) even Led Zeppelin proved they’re still able to rock harder than most of today bands that are tearing up the charts!
Supergroups like HellYeah, Army of Anyone and Audioslave have been big in the last few years and now it appears that the inevitable band reunion is going to be the hot item in rock this year!

Should a theatre yank out all their seats for this Marilyn Manson tour stop off?
Should a theatre yank out all their seats for this Marilyn Manson tour stop off?
Is this really worth for this show?
The Paramount Theatre pulled out their ground floor seats for the sold-out stop on Marilyn Manson’s "Eat Me, Drink Me" tour. Before the show began, perhaps the oldest, most supreme goth-rock anthem — Bauhaus’ "Bela Lugosi’s Dead" — bellowed through the PA, as if Manson were paying heed to the tradition that birthed him.
